The article “Data That Turned the World Upside Down” was very interesting to learn about but at the same time very puzzling. I had absolutely no idea that the internet could be that powerful and influence an election. The power the internet has and what people are capable of doing using these tools is hard to comprehend. I have facebook but don't use it and have no likes so i wouldn’t be able to be put into the psychological tests that they use to determine your personality but i think that soon, they will be able to do the exact same thing with other forms of social media. I use lots of other social media devices and i think that what type of person i am can really be shown through those at times. I find if very scary to think about the past U.S election and how they were able to target people who were undecided on voting, to vote for Trump. This just proves that you have to be extremely careful with everything that you post on the internet because it can somehow be seen and used by anyone with the proper access to it.
This article has made me think twice about the things that i post and the type of information i give out online, although i have always known not to give personal information. I think that it is a huge invasion of privacy for these tests to be runned and should only be able to be done if the person gives you full permission. The thought of someone knowing my personal details only through my facebook likes is troubling for me to comprehend.

My parents are the people who first come to mind when i think of someone who treats me with unconditional positive regard. They are the people who are always encouraging me to do good things and keep trying my hardest even when i mess up or give up. I think that their unconditional positive regard has made a huge impact on my life, i am able to feel loved and accepted by my family even when i am going through a rough time. My parents will always treat me with respect and the kindness that i need no matter what. The unconditional support i am given by my parents has allowed me to become successful in not only my schooling but with my social life as well. I am a much more confident person as well as compassionate and caring from them. I don't think that i treat myself with unconditional positive regard all the time like my parents do. I am definitely a lot harder on myself at times than my parents can be and i can be discouraged often. When i am discouraged or unmotivated, i can always count on my parents to give me the positive reinforcement i need to succeed and get a task completed. I think that i have standards in life that i need to live up to in order to be happy with myself and those conditions of worth allow me to motivate myself to become successful and happy in life.
That is why it is so important to have such a stable unconditional positive regard in your life, such as your parents who will love you unconditionally. |
